Enjoy an hour in ultimate relaxation for your mind, body and spirit during Yoga Nidra. Laura Johnson, Ph.D., will lead a 60 minute yoga nidra journey paired with an essential oil blend to further deepen your practice and bring about complete relaxation and healing. Yoga Nidra is a state of dynamic sleep where we maintain awareness. Yoga Nidra is sometimes called yogic sleep or psychic sleep because the practitioner appears to be asleep but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. One hour of yoga Nidra is equivalent to four hours of conventional sleep. With continued practice we are able to enter into alpha and then more into theta wave sleep which is extreme relaxation where we can enter into a state of increased creativity, imagination and problem-solving. Yoga Nidra as a systematic approach for inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. This relaxation is achieved by turning inward away from outer experiences.
Please bring your yoga mat, a blanket, any props (pillows work too) and dress in layers as there is minimal movement in yoga nidra. This class is perfect for all levels.
About the Instructor: Laura E. Johnson, Ph.D., 200 RYT is a licensed Psychologist, a registered yoga teacher and a trained meditation instructor. She has been using essential oils, leading meditation classes and teaching yoga since 1998 and specializes in yoga for PTSD and mood regulation.
