The weekly class focuses on cultivating mindfulness with somatic exercise, yoga, and mindfulness practices to promote mental well-being and healing. We experience the world simultaneously with the mind and body, and this class addresses both for holistically healing and community spirit. This class is trauma-informed, body positive, for all levels (no yoga experience needed) and focused on practices you can use in your daily life to promote wellness. This class will include an hour-long yoga class and a 30-minute mindfulness activity that students can use in their daily lives.
Melanie Summers is a yoga therapist with 1000-hr IAYT certification, who attended Surya Chandra Healing Yoga School. Melanie received her Licensed Professional Counseling Associate license in the state of Kentucky in 2023. She uses somatic psychology, mindfulness, and acceptance to heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief with all ages. Melanie has been teaching yoga since 2010 and practicing trauma-informed care since 2013. Melanie is a retired massage therapist with a deep understanding of the nervous system.
