The class will move through active and energizing postures as well as restful and restorative movements to relieve stress and tension before coming into a deep relaxation at the end of class. In addition to providing relief from some common discomforts that come along with growing a new life, yoga during pregnancy also prepares the body for labor and delivery.

Amie is currently teaching for the YMCA, Infinite Bliss Yoga, & Yoga East.

12:30-1:30 PM Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a deep practice that encourages the body to relax rather than engage. Yin is as much a mental practice as it is a physical practice, moving inwardly to find a balanced state of peace. In this practice we focus on releasing the connective tissue “fascia” to create range of motion in our joints and muscles by targeting ligaments, bones and joints. As this practice emphasizes stillness and silence, Yin Yoga prepares both the body and the mind for deeper experiences in meditation. Yin Yoga is the perfect practice to counter-balance a busy and fast-paced life style. Please bring a bolster or pillow, block, and towel or blanket if you have it available.  Some props provided.

About the Instructor: Carrie Irwin is a registered yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance and has completed her trainings through Asheville Yoga Center. She teaches all over Louisville at Bend and Zen Hot Yoga, Yoga on Baxter, Hot Yoga Louisville,  Blairwood Fitness Club, and a weekly class every Saturday right here at Rainbow Blossom.

Yin yoga is a relaxing form of yoga that is derived from the Taoist tradition. It encourages the practitioner to find their “edge” and relax in it. In yin, we hold the pose for three to five minutes allowing the stretch to move past the muscles and into the connective tissue and joints. Most yin poses are seated poses. As the student flows, Shanna will guide the student through a series of relaxing breath and meditation techniques.

About the Instructor: Shanna was Introduced to yoga as a small child; her Mother embraced the hippie era and surrounded her world with all sorts of alternative health modalities and spiritual practices. Yoga stuck. Shanna’s yoga practice had been primarily an “at-home” practice for over twenty years with maybe a handful of studio classes. In 2016, Shanna wanted to deepen her practice, and enrolled in the 200 hr teacher training at Eternal Health Yoga. Two months in to her studies Shanna realized that there was no turning back. Fully embracing all that she has learned and looking forward to the constant learning and practice that the future holds for her, Shanna is now a certified yoga instructor and stays busy teaching yin, Hatha Flow, and Restorative yoga classes. 11:30-1:00 PM Sunday Strength & Slow Flow

Slow Flow teaches us to move with intention. Whether you are a new student or have been practicing for a while, there may be a tendency to move in it and out of Vinyasa postures too quickly, which can create a sloppy form and lead to injury. Slow Flow allows you to drop into the integrity of the pose, giving you time to breath, stretch and adjust your body in each posture. The practitioner has time to evaluate how a pose should be modified, and also time to mentally engage with the body. Slow flow bridges the mind body connection – it creates a reflective practice and a time to go inward and build strength.

About the Instructor: Elizabeth has background in Education and Humanities with concentrations in Spanish and Religious Studies. She is a mother, Certified yoga teacher, Fascial Stretch Therapist, HANDLE® Screener, and Functional Medicine Health coach with an unbeatable passion and a unique approach to teaching — one that is inspirational and embodies the physical, spiritual, and emotional aspects of well-being. Team sports were challenging for her so she found solace in walking, running, aerobics, hiking and yoga. She has been practicing yoga for 18 years and became a certified yoga instructor in 2014. Her love of the human body, mind and spirit continued to grow which led her to becoming certified in Fascial Stretch Therapy and also Reiki. The foundation of her practice combines the physical and nutritional with an inner emotional and spiritual journey. By integrating body, breath, movement, nutrition and meditative awareness, she strives to promote an understanding of the interdependence of all these aspects in personal health and well-being.

1:30-2:30 PM Laughter Yoga

Laughter Yoga is a global movement for health, joy and world peace. In this session Melanie Rudolph, Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, will lead you in a combination of yoga deep-breathing exercises and get you moving with laughter exercises that make you feel more healthy and energetic. It's fun, silly and playful. All you need is a willingness to laugh and play along. 4:30-5:30 PM HighVibe Toga Nidra with Singing Bowl Sound Therapy

Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) is a meditation practice in which we learn to relax on every level of our being, thus releasing blocks and tension from our unconscious minds. This class is sacred and introspective, with plenty of time to breathe, feel, and welcome the pause between stimulus and response as we grow our ability to meet life with resilience. Adriena enhances this meditation experience using crystal singing bowls, which can create emotional release, energy/chakra clearning and balancing, heighten clarity, hone intuition and more.

About the Instructor: Adriena Dame helps people reduce mental and physical stress, strain and pain, and elevate their overall quality of life using an array of compassion-centered tools. From massage, bodywork, energy medicine, yoga and integrated therapies to intuitive guidance, teaching, coaching, magic making, and motivational speaking, Adriena is seasoned in the mystical art of serving humanity.

It is from a foundation of holism, joy, humility, compassion, curiosity, and an abiding appreciation for our individual humanness and energetic oneness that Adriena teaches all subjects within her scope of practice. Additionally, she understands that when we awaken to the abundance of our higher-dimensional consciousness and allow it to infiltrate the limiting beliefs that are rooted in the subconscious dimension of our human experience, we enter into a spaciousness of being that is pure peace. Freedom. Bliss. Love. And more love.
