2pm - Yin Yoga with Carrie Irwin of Bend and Zen Hot Yoga

Class Length: 75 minutes

Class Description: Yin Yoga is a more meditative approach with a physical focus that is much deeper than Yang practices. We will work to access the deeper tissues such as the connective tissue and fascia; many of the postures will focus on areas that encompass a joint. As one ages flexibility in the joints decreases and Yin yoga is a wonderful way to maintain that flexibility! This practice is very meditative in nature and will help you practice slowing down the monkey mind! Students are encouraged to bring props like blocks, blankets, and bolsters to class if they have them.

Instructor Info: Carrie Irwin found yoga several years ago, when she was seeking relief from chronic low back pain and sciatic nerve pain down her right leg.
For the first year, she only did Bikram Yoga, and did find amazing relief from my pain and incredible gains in my core strength as well as my ability to concentrate. She also was amazed to find that yoga helped with symptoms of other chronic health issues I have spent a lifetime battling. I soon began to take other hot yoga classes like Power Vinyasa and Yoga Core. I continued to explore and have a regular practice which includes both hot and “room temperature” yoga. I am a devoted practitioner of Hatha, Vinyasa, Bikram, and have started to delve deeper into Yin and Restorative yoga. I have fallen even more in love with yoga; the physical challenges and the flowing poses together create for me an emotional and spiritual process I have come to rely upon.
