Sunday 2/16

12 Noon - Vinyasa with Jessica Stephens

Class Description:  Jump start your week with classic standing poses integrated into energizing sun salutations.

Instructor Info: Jessica Stephens is a newly certified instructor who likes to use yoga to encourage a mind-body connection and emphasize self-acceptance. She teaches a Thursday noon class at Yoga East.

 

4:30pm - Yin Yoga with Christine Saladino

Class Description: Yin is the feminine, dark, passive, receptive, reflective, withdrawn, cool, introspective aspects of life. Yin yoga was developed to penetrate deep into connective tissue expanding flexibility while invigorating the energy centers of the body (nadis) to release blockages and increase your energy flow. Focusing on static movement, breath work (Pranayama) and meditation to create a profoundly deep and rewarding practice. The primary differences between Yin Yoga and many other forms of yoga is that you are encouraged to NOT use your muscles and passive poses are held for several minutes.

Instructor Info: Christine Saladino of YogaTwistOnLife invites flow and movement through poses as a moving meditation to stir up creativity, excitement and empowering manifestation of the energy within. She teaches a vinyasa style which draws from various yoga styles including; bikram, iyengar, anusara, jivamukti and hatha yoga. She also teaches yin yoga designed to lengthen and bring flexibility to the body, through longer holds of supported poses as well as pranayama (breath). She is originally from Northwest Indiana and has lived in Chicago, Washington D.C. and moved to Louisville in the fall of 2012. She is a 500 hour certified yoga instructor with yoga alliance.  Christine currently teaches at Infinite Bliss and Shine regularly. You may periodically see her at Yoga on Baxter and 21C.

 


Monday 2/17

9:30am - Therapeutic Anusara with Denise Stottmann

Class Description: Anusara is a unique approach to hatha yoga where the attitude and spirit of the heart powerfully blends with the biomechanical alignment of the body for balanced energetic action.  This class will be therapeutic for those dealing with chronic pain/stiffness or acute injuries and those desiring a slow/gentle practice. Come learn how Anusara yoga can help you heal and feel better!

Instructor Info: Denise Stottmann is the owner of Infinite Bliss Yoga in the Highlands near the corner of Eastern Pkwy and Bardstown Rd.  She is a Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher, a Yoga Alliance ERYT-500 and she holds a Masters of Engineering degree.  Denise is a native of Louisville and currently lives in Middletown with her husband, three children, a dog, and a pot-bellied pig.  Denise is inspired by sharing the connections she makes between science and math and the body, mind and heart.  She continues to be amazed at how the heart qualities and alignment principles of Anusara Yoga continue to benefit her in both her professional and personal life.  She loves to help others discover the therapeutic and healing properties of yoga.  She teaches studio, corporate, and private classes.

6:30pm - NiaFlow Yoga with Maria Whitley

Class Description:  A blend of gentle movement and body awareness practices geared toward clearing your mind and bringing you deeper into your present body. Cultivate awareness of sensation and the connection of breath and body and increase flexibility, mobility, stability and strength. All levels welcome. 

Instructor Info:  Maria Whitley has been practicing yoga for more than half her life! She blissfully added the Nia Technique to her yoga practice 5 years ago, fell in love with Nia and is now a Brown Belt Nia Instructor. Maria is a born teacher, crafting classes that make newcomers feel comfortable and safe while challenging experienced Nia practitioners. Maria loves movement of all sorts and is currently fascinated with connective tissue! She also teaches Music and Movement to young children at Music Together at Shine, a wellness studio that she owns and operates in NuLu. 



Tuesday 2/18

9:30am - Align + Flow with Laura Patterson

Class Description: A 60-minute alignment based vinyasa class imbued with a playful approach to exploring your body and mind, balancing energy and effort with a sense of lightness and curiosity.

Instructor Info: Laura Patterson loves to encourage students to move toward their fullest potential through heart opening alignment and life affirming philosophy. Laura has been playfully practicing, exploring, and sharing yoga since 1996, when she first experimented with practice and shortly thereafter teaching in the Sivananda tradition. She recently received her RYT500 through the Anusara School of yoga and has studied extensively with much-loved asana teachers Zhenja LaRosa, Naime Jezzeny, and Allison Terracio. Laura is currently continuing her studies in the Rajanaka Yoga tradition with renowned teacher Douglas Brooks. 


12 Noon - Vinyasa Flow with Beth Tatanella


Class Description: Vinyasa Flow Yoga is an hour long beginner style yoga class. It focuses on core strength, balance, and flow to build strength, flexibility, stress relief, and self confidence. It is composed of sun salutations, balancing poses, floor exercises, and stretching series.

Instructor Info: Beth started her practice nine years ago. She has always had a strong interest in yoga and decided to deepen her practice in 2009. Beth completed a 200 hour certificate through Core Power Yoga in Denver, Colorado. Since moving to Louisville, she has been able to expand and grow with Yoga on Baxter. When she is not teaching yoga, she is teaching beginning acting classes at the University of Louisville while pursuing an MFA in Performance Art, specializing in movement. She is excited and honored to be teaching at Yoga on Baxter.

 

4:00pm - Teen/Youth Yoga with Emily Karl

Class Description: This 60-minute class is especially for middle and high school students who are looking to begin or advance a yoga practice. Come to the mat to play with open hearts and open minds.Coming soon!

Instructor Info: Emily is a registered Yoga Instructor at the 200 hour level, receiving certification from Eternal Health Yoga here in Louisville. Working with an orthopedic surgeon has allowed her to introduce yoga to persons with injury, illness or other limitations that may cause one to shy away from a yoga practice. Having experienced an injury herself, Emily understands the importance of continuing to move and be present inside your body even when it is challenging. Currently she teaches full-time at Wellness 360 in St. Mathews. 

7:30pm – Baptiste Power Yoga with Mimi Hahn

Class Description: This all levels power vinyasa yoga class stays true to the Baptiste Power Yoga sequence, Journey into Power. You will flow, sweat, strengthen and breathe as we move through the power yoga flow. This class allow you to work at your own level while incorporating variations and modifications.

Instructor Info:  Mimi Hahn, Power Yoga Instructor - RYT 200 -  I began studying Bikram yoga in 2008 in Chicago and expanded to other disciplines when I moved to Florida. At Go Yoga Amelia Island, I found a natural combination of  eastern philosophy and western physical practice in one class. JP and Cassie McLellan, the owners of the studio, offered classes that inspired students to stand in their own power while also giving them the opportunity to sweat it out during physically demanding asana practices. When they decided to offer a teacher training in the fall of 2013 I knew it was time to deepen my practice and create the opportunity for me to share this powerful discipline with my community. Since moving back to Louisville in 2013 my mission has been to create a powerful physical and emotional yoga experience in the Louisville area that will foster community and will be accessible for all regardless of experience or income. 
 

Wednesday 2/19

9:30am - Hot Yoga with Beth Tantanella

Class Description: Beginning Hot Yoga is a fun class for everyone from beginners to experienced practitioners looking to expand their practice. This class is a great full body workout. The room is warmed to a comfortable 85-90 degrees. The class consists of 30-40 exercises in which each pose is preparing the body for the next pose and 2 breathing exercises. All exercises can be modified for any limitations such as injury or pregnancy. This is a safe practice in a non-competitive environment with expert instructor assistance. The focus of each class is proper alignment, weight distribution and regulated respiration. Through learning proper form it will help you to receive full therapeutic benefits from the exercises while avoiding injuries. The practice of this yoga will help you build strength, flexibility, concentration, balance, and relaxation. (60 min.)

12 Noon - Gentle Yoga with Theresa Wells

Class Description: 75 min. Of mindful breath work, strengthening & stretching postures, and relaxation. Perfect for any level to slow down and get in touch with your mind & body.

Instructor Info: I've been teaching yoga for almost 2 years. Went through training at Orbis Yoga Teacher Training to get my RYT200. I started working out regularly 16 years ago at 265lbs. I've lost over 100lbs and done everything from boxing to running a mini marathon. I fell in love with yoga 5 years ago and have had a regular practice ever since. I currently teach at Orbis.

4:00pm - Lionflow Yoga with Glenn Brown

Class Description: 60 minutes / Intermediate. This class is geared toward learning how to meditate in postures , and how to progress backbends , forward stretches , and arm balancing safely . Qi-gong standing meditations , breathing techniques , and inversions are also introduced into the flow of class . The focus of this class level is on how to progress your yoga practice safely without forcing anything.

Instructor Info: Glenn Brown founded Lionflow Progressive Yoga & Arts , LLC in 2010 , and is the Manager , and Yoga Teacher for Lionflow Yoga Studio in Clarksville offering 20+ weekly group classes . He received 100 hours certification in Hsing-I Kung-fu , Qi-Gong , and Acupressure in England by the Red Dragon School of Martial Arts in 2001 , and became a 500 hour certified Bikram Yoga Instructor in LA in 2002 . He has been teaching classes at Pure Bikram Yoga  Southern Indiana from 2002 up to the present , and coaches competitors for the International Yoga Championship .

Class Description: Power Hour is an ALL levels yoga class offers various opportunities for students to surprise themselves as they reach towards their highest potential. With detailed alignment instruction, full body integration, and a different challenge every session, students actively engage in their own progress. 12 Noon – Bikram Fusion with Stephanie Hall

Class Description: Bikram Fusion is a twist on the traditional 26 poses in the Bikram sequence. Taught in a heated room at Heat Yoga and Wellness, this class is great for beginners, and also allows advanced students to make their practice more dynamic. 

Instructor Info: Stephanie is a certified Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance, a worldwide recognized organization. After practicing yoga as a student for 10 years, she deepened her practice, and received her 230 hour yoga certification from Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina. Stephanie currently teaches at Heat Yoga and Wellness in The Vogue, as well as Owl Creek Country Club, and Kids Yoga at St. Francis School. 

 

4:00pm - Hatha Basics with Emily Karl

Class Description: This 60-minute class breaks down the basics of healthy movement in yoga, working towards improved posture, deeper breathing and confidence in one's body. Bringing mindfulness to the practice helps practitioners learn skills to continue working with their practice, even off the mat.

9:30am - Hatha Yoga with Jenny Little

Class Description: This ALL LEVELS class will include held asanas (or postures) as well as small sequences of asanas designed to align and open the physical body so that energy can flow freely.  We will bring attention to the breath to not only guide us through the physical work, but to also help still the mind and be present in the moment. 

Instructor Info: Jenny Little, 200 RYT, began practicing yoga in 2002 as a way to process the stress of providing counseling and case management services to homeless youth in Portland, Oregon.  Over the next 10 years, Jenny counseled youth in various settings and continued her daily study of yoga.  Counseling was wonderful, but also exhausting.  Becoming a mom created a renewed drive to live with as much clarity, intention, and authenticity as possible and teaching yoga became Jenny’s clear path.  In 2013 Jenny completed the 200 Hour Teacher Training with 8 Limbs Yoga Centers in Seattle, Washington.  While Jenny’s practice and teaching style continually evolve, her primary influences are the styles of Hatha, Iyengar, Forrest and Ashtanga.  With a focus on anatomy, alignment, and mindfulness, Jenny seeks to create intelligent and joyful yoga classes.  Jenny teaches with humor and compassion, creating an inclusive environment where students are encouraged to uncover their own inherent freedom.  Jenny teaches weekly classes at YOGA LOFT and Bellarmine University, and can also be found teaching occasionally at University of Louisville.

Instructor Info: Sarah Smith, Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Instructor RYT 500 - I was primarily seeking stress relief from my busy work life when I began practicing yoga in 2005. I was hooked, and after studying many different styles, I decided to make yoga a lifelong journey. I experienced my first Baptiste yoga class in 2008 at MBody Yoga in Jacksonville, Florida and knew that I had found my calling. The Baptiste style offered the combination of physical practice, possibility, and empowerment that I had been seeking. Through my teacher trainings with Mark White of MBody Yoga and Baron Baptiste of Baptiste Power Yoga Institution, I learned how to let go of the stress and constant worry that was running my life.  I have stepped into a life full of connection, service, and inspiration. Through yoga I have discovered a path to continuous transformation and personal growth. My passion is to teach classes in the Baptiste Methodology and inspire each and every person to step into their full greatness!
